Ingredients 1¼ cup mealie-meal (cornmeal) 1½ cup all-purpose flour 1 cup freshmilk ½ cup sugar can be less ⅓ cup vegetable oil ½ teaspoon salt 1 egg 1 teaspoon baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda A few drops of vanilla essence (optional) A drop of egg yellow (optional as well) Instructions Preheat oven to 350F/180C. Have all your ingredients out. whisk the egg and milk together and set aside. sift cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt at this stage add sugar and stir Mix together the egg and oil mixture combined earlier on and pour it into the bowl with the dry ingredients and make sure to thoroughly mix well and everything nicely combined . Set aside the batter mixture and start greasing your baking tin with bit of margarine and dust off with a bit if flour.
